Now, I Am Believed

Well, well. As Safeco hired the Independent Inspector, I expect to never see his report. When he presented himself here, he seemed fair and even-handed, I might even say fair-dealing emanated from him. I must be radiating some sort of freneticism because all men wind up talking to my son. I think they hear me, but they talk to him. At first I rather despised this male habit, but once I rethink it some more, I’ll get back to this line.

For six months, we have been glamping, with the boxes that have no where to go gracing the “driveway” and the “back yard” with their unexamined contents. After opening 400 boxes on the dead run, I hadn’t the manual dexterity to continue. Gotta rest that carpal tunnel, doncha know?

No stove hookup available, no flex line and cut-off valve. But this was paid for. So, I bought some electric burners and have been cooking with electricity. Hate it.

The meter board should have arc faults in it. They were removed by Protech’s electrician when I called to tell them the breaker was thrown when nothing much was on. I think the place needs rewired. Their fix was to remove the Building Code-required arc faults.

The adjuster who made the payments, Kent Stiles, continues to head up the investigation into my claims of his, Mazandarani’s, and Protech’s malfeasance. How can he investigate himself? I asked him this directly. He provided no answer. I had the opportunity to ask his manager, and he said Safeco thought he was the best person for the job because of his “familiarity” with the case. The man has participated in my gaslighting for over two years, masterminded the situation IMO because he is the common denominator among all adjusters who have worked on this case. Stiles took over the case from Trevor Haaswyk, who later left the state. Stiles made the payment to Beal Bank. He made the $80K payment to Protech in March even though he knew full well the job was in active dispute. I used his estimate to craft the police report itemized list of items stolen from my property. Safeco paid for all sorts of things after Protech provided them with a written estimate. Not a final bill. No invoices. An estimate, only, after two years. At this point, some precise figures should be available.

But, no. After submitting this $80K estimate to me, Protech issued ANOTHER ESTIMATE, that stated they spent $238K on this project. Again, what was installed was altered, costs changed, still no receipts or invoices presented, no explanation of the change in cost from their original “bid” of $190K to the final $238K. Stiles is the only one qualified to investigate these irregularities as he aids and abets grand theft. SMH

Finally, An Independent Inspector

After six months of wrangling with Safeco Senior Claims Resolution Specialist Kent Stiles,  whom I fired one month ago, enduring his continued attempts to humiliate and abuse me, his attempt to go through the back door of Innovations Properties to get me hooked up with the contractor network that I thought I was already a part of, an independent cost consultant was called in.

Stiles did not want him to know about the 19 days of delay that characterize the first days of my claim that was handled by a fellow named Trevor Haaswyk, now employed elsewhere. Wonder if I should track him down and get a statement? I may present this in civil court if this matter is not resolved to my satisfaction.

The inspector was treated to a first-eye look at the hideous workmanship that is Protech’s signature if all of the online reviews are to be believed. He photographed the overtorqued roof that is twisting the house and causing the apex joint in the centers of the house and garage, front and back, to separate and jut forward and backward. He saw how they deviated from the “plans”, a different set than those presented to me over 18 months of deceit.

The inspector also had a look at the last estimate submitted, documenting that Protech claims they were paid over $238K when their initial bid was $190K. They submitted no paperwork indicating why they needed this extra money. I have no documentation in this house for anything installed, no warranties for appliances installed, and a previous estimate that netted Protech $80K. That estimate was not presented for inspection. Guess the State Contractors License Board will have to take that into account.

I know the inspector found we were charged for items and services that never happened or were never installed on this property. I know he took note of the shoddy workmanship in evidence.

Safeco Bad Faith, Take Two

After nearly 2 years, after receiving an estimate of 3 months to complete the job of rebuilding my home, Safeco is forcing me into a still incomplete house. They do not respond to any of my significant questions; they continue to act with bad faith.

I had a question about the building code that requires me to have 6 fires sprinklers in an 800 sq ft house. Since 2011, all new construction of residential housing must include fire sprinklers, but the specification of the number of sprinklers remains a mystery. I also wanted to know who is responsible for paying for the damage if said sprinklers malfunction. Have been told my contractor is on the hook. The smoke detector was set off by steam from the shower. The smoke detector and fire  alarm were set off by my turning on the heater before it has been burned out. Any minute now, I expect to be inundated by these sprinklers. This is the most anxiety producing house I have ever been forced to live in. I mean, steam set off the smoke/carbon monoxide alarm. I was told steam would not do that. But it did. I was standing here, in a panic, when it happened. These people specialize in gaslighting.

Safeco Insurance is showing me they are of dubious quality. To stop communicating with a paying customer, in the middle of a claim? To have sent me into an incomplete house, no utilities, no services, no appliances, this is professional insurance company behavior? Rusty Beck, a representative from Safeco who called me to tell me I was lying about having been sent into a house with no utilities by their adjuster, told me such behavior would be grounds for losing a license. Funny, but Kent Stiles, the supervisor to whom my adjuster, Nahal Mazandarani allegedly answers to, would not confirm or deny what the procedure is regarding sending customers into homes that are not ready for occupancy.

Whatever you do, do not insure with Safeco.

What is Wrong with US?

Are we really all racists? Are we all irresponsible? Are we all trying to die? From opioids to laundry pods, are we really this stupid?

I can’t watch the news unless it comes from someplace outside of America. I am sick of being exposed, on the daily, to the lies, misdirection, and hatred coming from the top. I don’t want to see that ugly man’s face, but it is plastered everywhere. I can’t use social media because he is everywhere there. He gets way too much publicity. Is this all a ratings race? Who is winning because it certainly is not the public, who is exposed to “information” we cannot trust the truth of, nor can we believe.

An orange ass, who has done nothing in his life but lie and cheat, has no right to be in office. He has no right to expose me to his ignorance.

Is money the only thing that matters in this country? Being stupid certainly seems to be the movida of the hour. Eating laundry pods? How are people being raised nowadays? Where is the sense?

My son tells me that people now have pet children. They have a child, children, but fail to parent them. Single mothers look for mates, children in tow, rather than parenting the children presently in the world. Children have smartphones and tablets to babysit them before they can talk. No wonder they are sexting at age 8. What happened to childhood? What happened to responsible parenting?

The airways are full of the lowest of the low in terms of showing us what behavior is extant. Incest, hatred, murder, bigotry, jealousy. Every day we are exposed to the most negative, loathesome, debilitating, demoralizing behavior. Is this what we are expected to become? I have never seen upright behavior spurred by constant exposure to nastiness.

Like the little dog I saw in my twitter feed. He’d been abused all his life and cried when touched gently. It took a handler a while to calm the poor animal, but she broke through by showing patience, gentleness, kindness. Eventually the wee beastie stopped crying, relaxed and was able to begin responding in kind. It didn’t take long, but exposure to something other than the abuse he’d experienced was required for him to make a change.

I suspect our media is attempting to turn us all into mindless drones. Thoughtless, without empathy, stupid. I don’t like thinking this way, but I am continuously shown this behavior, encounter this behavior in the world, where I know I cannot trust anyone’s word, where I expect the worst and always receive it.

I wasn’t always like this. I was once an optimist. My son says I still live in fantasyland because I want to believe in people. It is getting more difficult to stay in fantasyland, though. I have been robbed, cheated, lied to more often in the past two years than at any time in my life. Confronted with the unending hubris of humankind, I am stunned by how far we seem to have fallen in the US.

Completely distressed.

SAFECO INSURANCE BAD FAITH

I have to get this down before memory fails because it seems to me that Safeco Insurance is attempting to cover up their bad faith.

After asking my adjuster a question about the funds remaining in my claim and a question about the engineering firm that drew faulty plans, she did not communicate with me for 2.5 months. When I heard from her, indirectly through the temporary housing agency, it was to cancel my housing and tell me my home was ready to move in.

In August 2016, I was given an estimate of three months for completion of the rebuild of my house and storage shed. The plans were drawn by engineers from Powell and Associates. They made a major error when drawing the plans in that they completely missed the orientation of my lot. My lot lays like this: \ \, not straight the way they drew it. Also, they did not account for all of my landscaping, which was purposely planted and cultivated to attract pollinators and to help my asthmatic family breathe.

18 months later, Safeco Insurance is trying to force me into a home that has not been signed off on by the County, that had no utilities on, where none of my appliances have been returned from storage. My adjuster sent me into a property that had an open trench, downed power lines, and mounds of soil in both the front and back yards. There is only one entrance, and to enter required stepping over a palette and a plywood step. And then, she played the victim because I asked if she was on drugs. Her actions indicated to me that she was either mad or on drugs. This is part of her gaslighting routine. All through this claim process, she has either downplayed my concerns, ignored them outright, or told me they were not important. Her victim missive completely forgets to mention she sent me into a home that was not ready. She tried to cover by saying she reinspected the property, after she shut down the project (abandoned it), and discovered there were still things that needed done outside. Inspection should have happened before ending my housing and telling me to move in.

I have no idea who to trust or talk with about this problem that has existed since the beginning of the claims process. I now trust no one associated with this project, save my contractor, who is the literal man in the middle.  He is being asked if the house is “livable.” It cannot be livable if there are no appliances and no utilities, yet I am being pressured to move in. Why? Perhaps because we are long past the completion estimate of 3 months.

I feel I have been set up to appear uncooperative. If the claimant is uncooperative, work can be stopped. I think this is what is happening, but I can’t prove it. There is no effort on the part of anyone associated with this claim to own that I was sent into an incomplete house without a certificate of occupancy, without utilities. And when I asked if my adjuster was on drugs, I was told that sort of accusation would not be tolerated. But I am supposed to tolerate the abuse I’ve endured for two years, including the decimation of my landscaping and the ignoring of my complaints that something was wrong with the plans from the very beginning.

This looks and feels like bad faith.

Driveway?

See that square underneath the water heater? That is where my big, old-fashioned water heater stood since 1923. If this area had been a driveway, why would the water heater have stood there?

There was never a garage on this property, either. Current code requires covered parking. Had the draftspeople drawn the plans correctly, and had the Safeco adjuster done her job correctly and told them to redraw the plans to correctly reflect the angle at the back of my property, I would not have to continue to correct her notion that there was ever a driveway on this property. Had she demanded correction to the plans, the garage could have been placed in the front of the property, eliminating the need to denude my property. As it currently stands, the garage is too close to the house for any vehicle to be safely driven into the garage, which would only hold a smart car. Note: I do not own a car.

That concrete slab was my patio, accessible through my back door that is no more because no door can open onto a driveway.

As the adjuster continues to oppress me, I have filed a complaint with Adult Protective Services for financial abuse, and will file a complaint with the Insurance Commission bright and early in the new year.

Audacity

Always on Shabbos, the Safeco adjuster who demonstrated bad faith has sent me an email, updating me on the status of my property, and threatening my housing again because the insurance company is not responsible for providing housing if my house is “livable.”

I wonder if she thought the place was livable when she told me to move in with the mounds of dirt in both the front and back yard, an open trench, down power lines, no power to the house, no gas, and the property unsecured because her workers threw away my fencing.

Inside, there is a partially inaccessible kitchen cabinet, no electrical outlet for my dryer, no shutters or window draperies. At the time she told me to move, there was no power, no gas, so no heat, no hot water. Outside, there is no front porch. As there is only one door, everything has to come through the living room. There is only a plywood step for entry. This is complete? This is ready for move-in? This is livable?

I am now searching for other entities to protect my interests. The time estimate for completion of my house expired long ago. Insurance Commission is one entity, Adult Protective Services is another. I feel she is abusing me financially as I asked her about the funds available in the account three months ago and still have not received an answer to that question. I guess she is trying to salvage her kickback, so she is attempting to rush me into an incomplete setting so she can close the case.

The adjuster had the gall to act as if she had not subjected me to poor treatment, and suggested I stop saying mean and hurtful things about her. I wrote her supervisor to say that I stand behind my accusations of bad faith and that those accusations are documented with text and video evidence. This witch is trying to spin a narrative that fits her lies. She is busier covering it up than three kittens in a litter box.

Personal Property Loss Claim with Safeco

This morning, I submitted a property loss claim to Safeco. My adjuster failed to call the draftspeople who created the plans for my brand new house and garage to account for their failure to note the orientation of my lot, which is angled to the left at the rear of my property. Instead of cramming a garage into a space never meant for it, the garage could have been placed at the front of the property and all of my landscaping could have been saved. Now, my property is denuded, looks cramped, and the house resembles a coffin as it is without windows, save a small one at the back, along the long side of the house.

All of my plants were purposely planted to attract bees, hummingbirds, butterflies. They were also planted to help my family breathe easier. All of my plants, trees helped clean the air and promoted visits of pollinators. Now, my yard is dust, all because my adjuster refused to contact the draftspeople and demand they change the plans to reflect the proper orientation of the lot.

In my claim, I requested compensation for my completely denuded yard. It did not have to go down this way, but my adjuster caused the problem though I objected from the beginning that errors were being made. I was cheated out of a bedroom window, cheated out of my built-in storage in the kitchen, cheated out of my recessed lighting in the living room. This is a one-bedroom, shotgun house that should have taken no more than six months to complete. Because of errors, from the beginning, the process has taken more than 18 months.

I am expected to swallow the destruction of my landscaping and the provision of a house that does not meet my needs without qualm. Whatever you do, do not insure with Safeco.
